Pepe's Ohren / Pepe's ears

In one of my last posts I bothered about the hearing ability from Pepe. Therefor I started to reflect, observe, asked the vet and came to a conclusion.

Pepe's Ohren von oben
Pepe's ears from above

Pepe's ears are more hairy than from his companions

Schau durch meine Ohren ...
Look through my ears ...
First I made experiments while jogging. Pepe runs in front of me, round about 8 m ahead on a Flexiline. If I wanted to get slower I called out in a normal speaking sound level. Immediately I got an ear and he was getting slower to a walk. If I say nothing and expect that he realizes by himself it's mostly not working. The other ones are faster in that case, but they are also closer to me.

On Monday the vet was on the farm and I had also an appointment for checking the teeth of all of them. We know the vet from over 11 years ago and somehow it was strange. We all were 11 years older! I summarized for him what happend in this 11 years and it was astonishingly less: Point got Borreliose, Moritz hat one colic and 4 years ago laminitis, but is now symptom free since 2 years. And Pepe decided to be a stallion. I asked about a hearing test for horses and of course there is one. For a short time I was occupied with Point and Moritz after their dental treatment and when I came back the vet told me: Pepe has no hearing problems at all. He made a test while Pepe was round about 5 m away with a very quiet click with his tongue and got immediately an ear. I tried this before to show the vet what I mean but didn't get one, but I was sure Pepe just knew that I did not want anything from him. And then the vet said something beautiful: Look at it from police horse perspective. Beside a police horse you can start fireworks and it would not jump. I already made this conclusion for myself: In Pepe's life are very less scary things. Most scary is eventually garbage in the high grass at the roadside. More or less he is and was every day of his life on the road. Cars, tractors, trucks, cows, sheeps, baby strollers etc. he knows it all. Then there is his herd and he has not to worry about food. He knows me his whole life long and normally I'm at his side and make sure that all is safe.

So nothing wrong with my ears ..
What about yours Sabine, are they safe?
